This diverse, natural Appalachian hardwood property has an established log yard and accesses robust local markets. A forest carbon sequestration project is underway, and Lyme expects to maintain certification for this property under the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) program.

The property is located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and will be managed for sustainable timber production by Lyme Great Lakes Forest Company LLC.

In August 2019, a Lyme affiliate closed on a $5 million New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) financing, facilitated by an NMTC allocation from AMCREF Community Capital, to establish Mountaineer Mechanized, a new logging business that will introduce winch-assist harvesting technology in Southern West Virginia where Lyme owns approximately 163,500 acres of timberland.

The property is adjacent to the Hilochee Wildlife Management Area and is designated by the State of Florida as a Green Swamp Area of Critical State Concern.

The property, known as Brimstone, is proximate to lands owned by other affiliates of The Lyme Timber Company LP, and it will be managed with those lands by Straight Fork Forest Management for sustainable timber production.

Historically, the mill procured timber from the lands we now own, and now Emporium Hardwoods is a customer for logs from our approximately 67,500-acre timberland ownership in the region.

The easement, resulting from a collaboration between the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, The Conservation Fund, and Lyme, will permanently protect lands within the Lower Suwannee River and Gulf Watershed and provide habitat and corridors for rare plants and animals. It allows for the lands to continue to be harvested for timber production, contributing to the local economy.

On July 31, 2018, a Lyme affiliate closed on $50 million financing with PENNVEST for land purchases in northwest Pennsylvania that support the local forest products industry and provide clean water benefits to nearby communities by protecting important watersheds.

A Lyme affiliate’s purchase of 15,000 acres of additional timberland in Pennsylvania from affiliates of Hancock Timber Resource Group brings Lyme’s total investment in the region to 67,500 acres.

On June 29, 2018, a Lyme affiliate acquired 9,500 acres in Brazoria and Galveston Counties, Texas.
