Crooked River Mitigation Bank

In August 2019, an affiliate of The Lyme Timber Company LP acquired the Crooked River mitigation bank in Polk County, Florida. The property is adjacent to the Hilochee Wildlife Management Area and is designated by the State of Florida as a Green Swamp Area of Critical State Concern. The mitigation project involves restoring over 150 acres of forested wetlands nearly 40 acres of emergent wetland, and nearly 50 acres of wet pine flatwoods. Over 65 acres of mined borrow pits will be converted into freshwater marsh. The bank will serve as habitat for federally endangered species including the wood stork and the Everglade snail kite.
