Lyme Great Lakes Timberlands
In November and December 2019, Lyme acquired approximately 677,000 acres of land in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and northeast Wisconsin in three transactions. The Lyme Great Lakes timberlands constitutes the largest private forestland ownership in the region and includes some of the region’s highest quality sugar maple stands, as well as a diversity of other hardwood and softwood species. In 2026, Lyme completed a 73,000-acre working forest conservation easement on the Michigan portion of the property in partnership with Michigan Department of Natural Resources (“MI DNR”). The property also benefits from strong, stable markets for wood products.
The investment strategy is focused on income generation from sustainable forestry activities, alongside income from the sale of non-strategic retail parcels, conservation sales, carbon project development and recreational leasing. The property is managed and certified to the SFI ® and FSC ® Forest Management Standards to ensure sustainable management and conservation of the forest resource.
Lyme Great Lakes Timberlands is managed by Lyme Great Lakes Forest Management LLC, a fund-owned portfolio company with 25 employees. Amber Marchal and Nate Christie serve as Co-General Managers of the property.
